A Prayer to Receive Jesus Christ

Why This Prayer Matters

Salvation is not received by repeating certain words or praying a perfect prayer. The Bible teaches that we are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. A prayer does not save us—Jesus Christ does. When we place our trust in His death and resurrection, repent of our sins, and surrender our lives to Him, God forgives us, welcomes us into His family, and gives us the gift of eternal life. The words we pray simply express the faith that already exists in our hearts.

If you are ready to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, let this prayer be an honest conversation with God. Speak these words sincerely, believing that Jesus Christ died for your sins, rose again, and invites you into a relationship with Him. God is not listening for perfect words. He is looking at your heart, and He faithfully receives everyone who comes to Him through His Son.

Heavenly Father,

I come before You recognizing that I need You. I acknowledge that I have sinned and fallen short of Your perfect standard. I turn away from my own ways and turn toward You, asking You to forgive me and cleanse me through the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for loving me before I ever knew You, for making a way for me to be reconciled to You, and for sending Jesus to reveal Your heart and offer me the gift of salvation.

Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God. I believe that You died for my sins and rose again in victory. Today, I place my faith in You and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Please transform my heart, lead my life, and teach me to walk in the purpose You created me for. Thank You for welcoming me into Your family, giving me a new beginning, and assuring me that I belong to You.

Heavenly Father, help me grow in my relationship with You each day. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, teach me through Your Word, and give me the strength to follow wherever You lead. Thank You for Your love, Your grace, and the new life I have through Jesus Christ. In His precious and powerful name, I pray, Amen.
